Lulu conducts static electricity extremely well. In her effort to tame her flyaway life, she has, she claims, developed an immunity to Static Guard. This does not stop her from using it. She applies it several times a day: on her clothes in the morning, inside her coat before she puts it on, on her hairbrush when she arrives at work, and so on.
I laughed at her but then I visited the official Static Guard website, and was astonished at the things they have thought of to spray. Spray it on miniblinds to prevent dust from building up! Spray it on artificial snow, put snow in paper bag, shake, and presto, your holiday displays are free from flyaway snow! If covered with pet hair, spray self and then just wipe off, no lint brush needed! The site is a stunning example of corporate marketing at its best/worst. There’s a map of the US where you can click on a city and see its level of “static alert.”
Lulu got annoyed when I laughed at her devotion to the product. “I have other superpowers you don’t know about,” she said defensively.
